Number types and address rules

Local/mobile addresses must match official registration; PO boxes are excluded.

What to prepare

Local/mobile businesses: registered name, registration number (or VAT/tax number), representative's name/email, and website/social profile if available. Identity/address evidence: commercial-register extract, trade registration, or tax-office confirmation for a liberal profession. Registration-number evidence: register extract or tax-office confirmation. Submit updated trade-registration documents after changes.

Toll-free businesses: commercial-register extract, VAT number, and allocation letter naming the company.

Toll-free individuals: government ID, German visa, or passport, plus allocation letter naming the person.

Before ordering

German toll-free numbers require an application to Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA) first. After allocation, provide the letter to Twilio for activation; this is not an ordinary inventory purchase. Follow Twilio's application and activation procedure: submit the bundle for review, then request activation with the account SID, bundle SID, and allocated number. Twilio lists roughly 15 business days for activation and warns that BNetzA can reclaim a number not activated within 180 days of the allocation letter.
